Do you have trouble deciding whether to lead with the product or the opportunity?
I’ve got a couple of tips here for you today. First, classically I was always taught that you lead with the opportunity. But, I’ve come across a couple of things that lead me to question that. Let me talk first about warm market.
In your warm market, if people see you as a leader, then lead with the opportunity. But what I found is that in most cases, your warm market does not view you as a leader, and in these cases I would lead with the product.
If you have a great product. If you have a great product, by all means, lead with the product. What you can say is, listen, I know this business is not a fit for you, but you could probably use the product.
You could probably benefit from the product. They may then come back after they hear about it and say that they’re interested in the business.
They’re interested in the opportunity. If not, well you get a loyal customer, loyal product user and you get lots of retention which is a great thing also because a lot of these satisfied customers then will eventually become consultants.
In summary here, product, opportunity, what do we lead with? I’m just going to leave you with these two things, warm market.
If people see you as a leader, start with the opportunity. If they don’t, start with the product. If you have a great product, lead with the product.
