Do you avoid recruiting busy, successful people? A follow-up to that would be, do you think busy, successful people don’t have the time to join a network marketing business?
Do you think successful people wouldn’t want to join? Couple things on that: first I would say, the best person to actually recruit is a busy person, and busy, successful people are actually joining network marketing businesses every day.
The worst person to join, actually, is somebody with lots of time. That’s because busy people get the most done. They’re used to getting the most done and they get the most done. Those with lots of time just don’t.
What’s the best way to approach busy people? First, it’s important to help them understand to separate time and money. Help them understand that the best way of making money is not working for an hour on the job and getting a certain number of dollars per hour on the job.
It’s important to explain residual income. The income that you work once and you get paid over and over again for.
Let me give you a little scenario and let you know what’s the best thing to say. If they say they’re busy, say, “How long will that be a problem?” Of course this may lead to confusion.
Then the follow-up would be, say, “Guess what? I have an opportunity that you do once and you get paid over and over and over again.” Then say, “I don’t know if what I have is a fit for you, but if I were you I would look for a way to get residual income, unless you want to work forever.”
What I would say in summary here is number one, get them to distance themselves from the thought of trading money for time.
Number two, tell them that money isn’t the only benefit of network marketing. Freedom is. Number three, if you can get a residual income that pays some or all of your bills then the job becomes just an option.
